Friday it is!

Ah the best Friday in a long long time has finally arrived! But why are Friday's so special and different than any other day?

Friday, Next Friday, Friday After Next, Last Friday! Thank God It's Friday...

Friday is also the last day of the work week or school week for most people.

In Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates though, Friday is the first day of the weekend and Sunday as the beginning of the workday.

In some cultures, Friday is considered unlucky. This is particularly so in maritime circles; perhaps the most enduring sailing superstition is that it is unlucky to begin a voyage on a Friday.

In Islam, Friday corresponds to Sunday in Christianity and Saturday in Judaism, as a holy day.

Friday is associated with the planet Venus and symbolized by that planet's symbol .

Casual Friday (also called Dress-down Friday or Aloha Friday) is a relaxation of the formal dress code employed by some corporations for that one day of the week.

"Only Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday"

Enjoy your weekend y'all, i know I will!!!

Mixture of emotions

I have always heard about friends and what not blogging away; seemed interesting but never thought I would find time and energy to do it. Then again - why not? "The Time is Always Now..."

SO today is my first blog entry... Thursday, July 21st and I couldn't be happier

For 2 reasons:

1. Vicki is coming to visit me and I have missed her so much. Being away from my girlfriend for the past 7 months has been tough but we have done so well in growing together and not apart. I know distance can be a killer but not this time... we are planning to do something about it quite soon.

2. My local soccer team, AEK, is playing in a European game against Maltese side, Floriana. The match will be the first official game of my team this year and following last year's good course (we finished 4th) I am anticipating this season anxiously. The first game we won 8-0 in Malta so I don't think this game will be much of a contest.

Also I cannot avoid the anger and sadness that has been overwhelming all of the citizens on this island. After a tragic explosion last week in a naval base, due to the negligence and irresponsible handling of the government, 13 people have died and many others injured. Adding to the damage is the huge blow to the economy that will burden all Cypriots and has pushed us back many decades... tough times are definitely ahead for this country. All we can do is do our part and the best that we can to help our people and the ones greatly effected by the tragedy.

Well, this wasn't so bad! Ha

Until next time y'all...
